FAQ

  • What is Dog Boarding?

Dog boarding is a service that allows pet owners to leave their dogs in a facility outside of their home while they are away for any amount of time. At Puppy Lodge, we offer luxurious and cage-free boarding for your furry friend, ensuring they are pampered and well taken care of during their stay with us. Our facility is designed to provide a comfortable and stress-free environment for dogs, giving owners peace of mind while they are away.

  • Is there someone overnight with the dogs?

We understand that your pet's safety and well-being is a top priority, which is why we have taken extra measures to ensure their safety while they stay with us. Our facility is equipped with 24/7 video surveillance and an overnight kennel technician to ensure that your pet is always being monitored and cared for. You can rest easy knowing that your furry friend is in good hands, even while you're away.

  • My dog doesn’t do well with other dogs, can you still board him/her?

Absolutely. As long as they are 100% people friendly, we can still board them and they will receive personal one on one playtime with our staff. However, there will be an additional fee for this service.

  • Can someone come visit my dog while we’re away?

While it may be tempting to have visitors come see your dog, it is important to consider their emotional well-being and avoid any unnecessary stress. By having visitors, the dog may think they are going home and then have to readjust once again, causing confusion and anxiety. Therefore, we strongly advise against having visits for the sake of your dog's mental health.

  • Can I bring my dog’s bed?

Unfortunately, we do not allow any personal items, including dog beds, into our facility as we strive to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for all our guests. However, our cage-free luxury suites are equipped with raised beds, blankets, rugs, and pillows to ensure your dog's comfort during their stay.

  • Can I bring toys?

Absolutely. We only accept toys made of rubber and/or plastic, and we request that their names be written on them for easy identification. We do not allow any fabric toys to maintain a safe and sanitary environment. We also advise against bringing rawhide toys or anything that can easily break into small pieces, as these can pose a choking hazard for our precious pups.

  • Can a friend drop off/pick up my dog?

If you are unable to drop off or pick up your dog at Puppy Lodge, you can designate a friend or family member to do so. Just make sure to provide us with any specific instructions for your dog's care and we will add their name as an approved pickup person on your account. Please remind your friend to bring their ID when they come to pick up your dog.

  • Can I call while I’m away to check how my dog is doing?

We understand how important it is for pet owners to stay connected with their furry friends while they are away. That's why we offer the option for owners to call and check on their dogs whenever they want. And for even more peace of mind, we also provide complimentary SMS text message updates and photos of your dog directly to your phone. You can trust that your pup will be well taken care of with us.

  • What if my dog doesn’t have a Bordetella or rabies shot, can we still bring them?

Unfortunately, we cannot allow your dog to stay at our facility without proper vaccinations, including the Bordetella shot. This is for the safety and well-being of all the dogs in our care. We require all of our guests to be up-to-date on their vaccines, including the rabies vaccine. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we prioritize the health and safety of our furry guests. Thank you for understanding.

  • Does my dog have to get a bath?

Yes, your dog must get a bath before returning home. It is a mandatory policy in order to maintain cleanliness and hygiene for all guests. This ensures that your dog will return home fresh and clean, making for a happier and healthier pet.

  • We might get back from vacation a day or two early, so would it be a problem if we picked our dog up early?

Sure, we can definitely accommodate that request. We understand that plans can change and we are happy to have your dog ready for an early pickup. Just let us know ahead of time so we can make sure all of your dog's belongings are packed and ready to go when you arrive. We want to make sure your pickup process is smooth and efficient without any delays or wait times.

  • When you say you’re closed for a Holiday, does that mean there’s nobody here taking care of the dogs?

No, there will always be someone here at the Puppy Lodge to take care of the dogs, even on holidays. Our staff is dedicated to providing care for our furry guests 365 days a year. The only difference on holidays is that the lobby may be closed for pick up and drop off, but our team is still working behind the scenes to ensure the best care for your dog. If you have any further questions about our holiday operations, please don't hesitate to contact us.

  • If my dog isn’t participating in daycare, will they still get enough activity during the day?

Yes, even if your dog is not participating in daycare, they will still receive plenty of activity during the day. Our all-inclusive accommodations allow for the option of all-day group play or one-on-one play with a staff member, ensuring that your dog will get the exercise and stimulation they need. There is no additional cost for this service.

  • How much does it cost to board a dog?

What shots do dogs need to be boarded and to participate in daycare?

For boarding and daycare, it is recommended that dogs receive the Rabies vaccine, Bordetella (Kennel Cough) vaccine, and the Canine Influenza vaccine. These vaccinations help protect your dog from illnesses that can be easily spread in a group setting. It is also important to keep these vaccinations up to date to ensure the safety of all dogs in the boarding or daycare facility.

  • Do dogs need to be neutered/spayed to be boarded?

We do not require dogs to be altered while boarding with us, however, for them to participate in doggie daycare, they must be altered by 10 months old. We recommend individual playtime for unaltered dogs to ensure their safety and the safety of other dogs. Additionally, spaying and neutering can have health benefits for dogs, such as reducing the risk of certain cancers and behavioral issues. Ultimately, the decision to alter a dog should be made in consultation with a veterinarian.

  • How should I prepare my dog for boarding?

Preparing your dog for boarding involves making sure they are up to date on all vaccinations and have passed a temperament test. It is also recommended to drop your dog off for a few hours of daycare prior to their overnight stay, as this helps them get used to the facility and allows our staff to learn their personality. Our boarding facilities are equipped to handle dogs of all sizes and after a few stays, most dogs adjust well and even look forward to the playtime and socialization with other dogs.

  • What should be expected after my dog comes home from boarding?

After your dog comes home from boarding, you can expect them to be tired and possibly a bit sore from all the activity and play they experienced while being away. This is completely normal and a sign that they had a great time. In a highly active environment with other dogs and staff members, it is not uncommon for dogs to come home with minor cuts or scrapes. However, rest assured that our trained supervisors are always monitoring the dogs to ensure their safety and well-being. We understand that rough play can happen, but our certified staff are always there to intervene and keep the dogs safe.

  • What should I bring besides my dog?

Along with your furry companion, you should also bring any necessary food and medication. We are committed to ensuring the happiness and comfort of all our guests, so please let us know of any special dietary or medication needs. You may also bring toys from home as long as they are made of rubber, plastic, nylabone, Kong, or any other hard and non-porous material. For safety reasons, we ask that you do not bring any fabric or rawhide toys that could pose a choking hazard. Please separate all feeding and medication administration into separate Ziploc bags to help our staff keep track of your pet's needs. However, if you do need to bring your food from home, rest assured that we can accommodate most special dietary needs and medication needs, excluding injections.

  • Can I tour your boarding facility?

Of course! We would be more than happy to give you a tour of our facility. Tours are available Monday through Friday from 1pm to 3pm. During the tour, we will show you our spacious suites, play areas, and other amenities that we offer for your furry friend. We can't wait to show you why our facility is the best choice for your beloved dog's vacation stay.
